I simply could not believe it today when I heard that Labour locally were having a go at Formby Tory Councillors for turning down investment in a Formby children’s play area.
But hang on a minute, Labour who run Maghull Town Council, turned down investment in 3 Maghull parks only a couple of weeks ago. Yes, the Maghull Comrades have the resources to be able to spend around £50,000 on each of the 3 play areas at Round Meade, Moss and Moorhey Parks with enough left in the bank to give Maghull Council tax payers a 10% reduction in the amount they have to pay. Labour voted against spending the money on the play areas, against reducing the Council tax demand by 10% and against allocating money to a Maghull skateboard park.
Labour, having promised to do up local play areas and told Maghull kids they are going to provide a skateboard facility, simply voted the investment that Lib Dem councillors had proposed making down.
So if Formby Tories are guilty of not backing new play areas Maghull Labour should be found guilty on 4 counts of the same offence and for hoarding up Council tax payer’s money!
