I attended the event that the Town Council put on yesterday evening and it looked to be reasonably successful with around 80 locals present. We had agreed that this event be put on with the Labour administration so for once the Town Council came together on a common agenda rather than it being driven apart by party political difficulties.
I had the chance to chat with people from:-
Maghull in Bloom
St Johns Ambulance
Maghull Photography Club
A Rep’ from a local bowling league/club
A local business woman who was looking for a councillor’s support over an issue she has with United Utilities
I discussed a youth citizen project with a rep’ from Sefton CVS and my colleague and fellow Frank Hornby Trust Trustee Les French was there looking for opportunities to promote our work. Of course, there were many other community groups represented as well.
Just one issue/concern about the event was raised with me and this was associated with some of the pre-publicity indicating that the event was a drop-in one whereas in reality it was more formal than that with a set agenda. I am not sure how this misunderstanding came about but I hope it did not spoil things too much for the folks who got the wrong message about the format of things.
