Today was judging day and representatives of North West in Bloom came to check out our efforts, or should I say the tremendous efforts of the volunteers that both Sefton and Maghull Town Councils have tried to back up.
I never cease to be proud and amazed by the work of the volunteers to spruce up Maghull and a special mention of Nigel Winchester is required. I have blogged about him before as he has recently been awarded the British Empire Medal but he is far from being a well man. Despite that he leads a team on volunteers who have turned Maghull Station into one of the best presented in England. Thanks Nigel and indeed to all the volunteers; the Town would be the poorer without you all.
The Mayor and Mayoress of Maghull held a reception for the judges and those involved with the work this year at Maghull Town Hall and very nice it was too. Obviously, I wanted to know what the judges thought and they were clearly pleased with what they had seen across Maghull.
A celebration party then took place at the home of one of the leading volunteers but I had to give it a miss due to a bad back problem getting the better of me!
