The BBC has the story on its web site – see link above

This thoughtful piece is worth a read because it does look like we were conned about the ‘benefits’ of diesel cars.

I for one was taken in and had a couple of diesel powered cars, maybe you were too?

  1. Richard Stallard says:

Mine’s a diesel. For the past nine years I’ve made my own biodiesel from waste vegetable oil at an approximate cost of 15p a litre and laugh every time I pass a tax station.
    Emissions? What emissions?
The GHG emissions benefits of biodiesel are significant because carbon dioxide (CO2) released during fuel combustion is offset by the CO2 captured by the plants from which biodiesel is produced. The oil I use was produced from plants already used for cooking food, so it’s not as if they’ve been grown just for me to burn as fuel.

That’s a very stupid BBC article, but it’s still hard to see how you were ‘conned’. Diesel cars produce less CO2 and use less fuel.
