I went to have a look at the pub this morning and the photos below say it all really.
I got into a conversation with chap and it turned out he was the new licensee/landlord. He was full of praise for Merseyside Fire Brigade (who were there until 11.30pm last night) and said it looked like the fire had started in a similar way to the previous one a few weeks ago i.e. chimney related.
The inside/structure is OK but there is considerable water damage if I understood correctly.
I wished him all the best and hope the pub management company will get him up and running again soon.
Stop Press:- The Carols and Bells event (which had been down to be at the Scotch Piper) to raise funds for St, Catherine’s Chapel AKA Lydiate Abbey has been moved to the Running Horses Pub in Bells Lane, Lydiate at 7.30 tonight.
