Bill Esterson MP – Do us a favour Bill and defy the Labour Whip over Article 50

We know you have been told by Jeremy Corbyn how to vote in Parliament over Brexit and Article 50 Bill but this issue is far bigger than Labour Party loyalty; our fragile economy is at stake and many other things too.

Please defy the whips and vote not to trigger Article 50; this is a time to stand up and be counted not to just follow what your Leader tells you to do.

  1. Phil Holden says:

I really should have asked you the other day, Tony, what you think would happen if the Commons were to vote not to trigger Article 50. Presumably it would lead to a General Election – which the LibDems would understandably be up for, I get that, with an unambiguous position on Europe and improving poll ratings. But for Labour and many of their MPs it could be Apocalypse Now, riding low in the polls and with many MPs sitting in constituencies that voted Leave. Which is why Corbyn is whipping Bill and all his colleagues to vote for triggering Article 50. These are uncharted waters but self interest is never to be discounted in politics!
