2.6m women are angry over State Pension losses

The Daily Mirror has the story on its web site – see link above

Quote from article – ‘The Women Against State Pension Inequality (Waspi) activists are campaigning for 2.6million women born in the 1950s whose state pension age is rising to 66 by 2020.’

What has surprised me is that there have not been bigger and longer protests over this.

With thanks to Roy Connell for the lead to this posting

  1. Phil Holden says:

I’ve seen quite a lot of complaints in the press about the way this change has been implemented, Tony. And there have been questions in the House – of Commons and our house from my other half! The change was necessary – after all it removes an unjustifiable discrimination on the grounds of gender – but it perhaps didn’t need to be implemented in a way that gave quite a few women no realistic chance to change their retirement plans. But it seems women nearing retirement are one of the disenfranchised groups in this country. Those groups aren’t necessarily the ones you would think from reading the newspapers
