Maghull – Thinking of those lift towers at the new Maghull North Station

Following my posting of a few days ago (see link below) and conversations with a few folk I wonder why cladding that blends in with the skyline and trees has not been considered to make the twin towers less noticeable for the sake of the nearby residents in Mersey Avenue?

Surely such an option would be quite possible, so why not try to work it into the project before it’s too late? – in full consultation with the affected residents of course!

  1. Laurence Cox says:

We had a similar problem with a school sports hall on the edge of a park in my ward about 25 years ago. The solution chosen after public protests was to plant semi-mature trees in the park around it and to change the colour of the ironwork of the building from bright red to a dark green. The architect was upset, but the residents accepted it.

In your case, it would be worth trying to break up the angular shape of the lift towers by painting them. Why not try photoshopping some trees on to the pictures of them and seeing what it looks like.
