Merseyrail – Delivery of their 1st new Stadler Class 777 train

A mock-up of a Class 777 – The new Merseyrail trains that will soon replace the Class 507/508 EMU’s

For those wondering what the new trains look like for real, as opposed to the mock-up one (see photo above) that was on show in Liverpool & Birkenhead, the link below shows the first one being delivered to Merseyrail’s Kirkdale Depot on 15th January:-

My thanks to Kevin Duggan for the lead to this posting

    I like this video also of the new train arriving onto Kirkdale depot;

    It also worth pointing out, the first 507/508 has already been withdrawn at the end of January this year.
    508134 formed one of the units on the rail tour on 26th Jan and was its final journey in passenger service, visiting the entire Merseyrail network with its partner (507001).

    Now withdrawn, 134 is often seen stabled outside the new maintenance shed at Kirkdale depot and has been reported to assist the new train as it moves around the depot.
