Gun Crime – It’s an almost everyday event these days

The Liverpool Echo has the latest gun crime ‘event’ on its web site (this time in Bootle) see link below:-

Worryingly, there is every danger that we will start to see gun crime incidents as normal every day events as the media relentlessly churn them out. Normalising may creep up on us when we should be treating each event as totally unacceptable in a civilised society.

Litherland shooting

Here we go again, yet more shootings on Merseyside this time in Sefton Borough. Is it just me or are we fast losing a semblance of being able to control guns on our streets as these incidents are now an almost daily occurrence?

Worrying times indeed.

Netherton – Yet another shooting in Sefton Borough

Well they keep on coming but we have not heard much from our Police & Crime Commissioner about what she and her Merseyside Police Force are doing to get on top of these all too often shootings.

It seems time for some high profile reassurance that Merseyside Police are going top get on top of this appalling march towards an American-type gun culture.

Merseyside’s gun crime problems – The need to have a gun amnesty says it all really

You know you have a serious gun problem when you keep having gun amnesties. The Liverpool Echo has the story – see link above

And on the very same day the Echo web site ran this Litherland shooting story:-

You know our gun problems here on Merseyside, or at least the reporting of them, seem to be getting worse. Now don’t I recall a recent Echo article based on Merseyside Police saying they were winning the gun war, or words to that effect?

It’s only a question of time until another innocent person gets caught up in the revenge gun violence amongst the criminal fraternity, is it not?

Litherland Shooting

The Liverpool Echo has the story about the latest local/Sefton shooting in Litherland – see link above.

And the shootings go on and on, this time in Hapsford Road Recreational Park in Litherland.

Not so long ago we were being told that Merseyside Police were winning the battle to get guns off our streets but frankly the streets of Sefton don’t seem much safer when things like this are going on in a children’s play area.
