Fracking is on our doorstep but how many folks really appreciate that and indeed the troubles that it could well cause in mid-Sefton and West Lancashire?
The process is advancing in Great Altcar, West Lancashire and at some point, subject to further permissions etc. a green light could be given to start fracking under our communities. Lydiate, Formby, Ince Blundell, Little Crosby, Hightown, Crosby, Little Altcar, Great Altcar, Maghull, Downholland are all within range for the process to take place below them.
But, have a look at this Channel 4 News video which details what has happened in Holland and then turn around and tell me, those of you who back fracking, that you are still happy for it to take place under your community.
You may want to consider backing the work of the Moss Alliance if you are not doing already, who are trying to fight off fracking locally:-
Lydiate Parish Council, on which I sit, has allocated £500 to assist the Moss Alliance in any legal battles they may fight as I have mentioned before on this blog site.

I’m wondering if the BBC may finally be weakening in it pro-Brexit approach to news and current affairs coverage? To date, more or less since the EU Referendum, the BBC has been heavily biased in its reporting towards the pro-Brexit camp in my view. The number of Times Nigel Farage has appeared on Question Time has become a national embarrassment for our supposedly impartial national broadcaster to whom we all have to pay a license fee.
But pressure has been building on the BBC to set the record straight after months of its biased reporting – biased by it effectively ignoring any pro-EU/anti-Brexit events. So is this small step an acknowledgement of its sins even if only in Scotland? Would the BBC be brave enough to do similar in England where the Brexit dominated Tory and Labour Parties would surely attack it if it went back to being balanced in its reporting of Brexit?
That the once hugely respected BBC is in this position is desperately sad in itself but the reality is that BBC news is now probably 3rd or even 4th in terms of its reliability and impartiality behind Channel 4 News, Sky News and ITN. Who’d have thought it would come to this?
In recent times I see my country acting in ways that make me deeply ashamed of it and this is another sad and worrying example of us turning on our own people as the powers that be seek out scapegoats for our increasingly everyday racism.

What really gets me about this is that instead of regularising the paperwork each time one of these seemingly unregistered (and there could be 50,000 of them!) cases comes to the surface some of the poor people involved have been locked up. That’s no way to treat people we invited to our country no matter how or why the law was changed regarding them in 1971. They are British and should be helped to resolve any paperwork issues from generations ago without the need for them to be locked up and threatened with deportation.
If we can be so intolerant towards our own people what on earth does it show about how we are treating modern day refugees! What on earth are we coming to in Brexit Britain?

This is a powerful piece indeed and well worth reading. My thanks to Roy Connell for spotting it.
As an aside I heard Anna Soubry MP say on Channel 4 News tonight that both her Tory Party and Labour had in effect stoked up anti EU feelings over issues that had nothing to do with the EU. She even mentioned that the Libs had not done this. Her anger with Gove and Boris was very clear.
