Labour’s Remainers are in fact the real problem in that broken party

I was taken by the article below from the Huffington Post by Tim Walker as it seems to sum up so well why we progressives, outside of Labour, can’t get our heads around the party’s Remainers staying within Corbyn’s camp.

I too have heard Labour’s leading Remainers make big speeches but each time I hear one they become less inspiring as you know they will not follow through and do anything remotely useful to get the Labour Party off it’s ridiculous job-loss Brexit hook.

How many times have we heard David Lammy wringing his hands and sounding like he could offer some hope only to realise that in the end it’s the Labour Party, no matter what it stands for, that he is actually wedded to. Well sadly David that’s how it looks to us Remainers outside of Labour’s cultist camp.

Labour’s ultimate problem is that loyalty to the party comes before absolutely everything else so whatever the leadership does is backed come what may. Grumbling and big speeches aside (from those who have issues with the party leaders) those in charge will be followed over the cliff edge if required.

My own realisation of this was with regard to Andrew Adonis who carpet bagged himself around the UK as though he was the person to save us all from the evils of Brexit. Why I only missed his public meeting in Ormskirk last year because I had another call on my time that I could not get out of. My radical liberal daughter went though and she was impressed with what Adonis had to say, BUT then as the fog cleared it became apparent that Adonis cared not at all for Remainers who were other than Labour Remainers. What’s more he then went and stood in the EU elections this year under Labour’s flag of Brexit! How he sleeps at night I have no idea but the only saving grace is that he lost in those EU elections.

Labour’s Remainers have done untold damage to the UK because of their weakness. In backing their party, above all else, they have allowed their own leadership to keep plodding on with it’s own bizarre job-loss Brexit and they’ve helped the real right wing nutters try to drive through their mad vision for a No-Deal Brexit Britain.

But you know the really odd part of this is that if Labour finally becomes a Remain Party at some point, the Labour Remainers will act like they have never been a part of a Brexit backing party at all!

Social Care – It could cost over 50’s £300 per year

The Huffington Post has the article on its website – see link below:-

Well the so called Dementia Tax went down like a lead balloon when Teresa May proposed it during the 2017 General Election and it was probably a significant factor in her losing her majority in the House of Commons. So, with that in mind, it takes a brave Tory to come up with another form of taxation aimed at the over 50’s this time just days before the 2019 local elections with the Tories already staring down the barrel of an electoral gun.

Tories want to entrench our appallingly unrepresentative voting system even more!

Well just look what the Tories are trying to slip through in their manifesto, an extension of our appalling electoral system that gives us governments which less than 40% of those who voted have supported!

Yes I know that many Labour people back the First Past the Post too because it gives them parliamentary constituencies where they are also guaranteed a win. Trouble is the FPtP system gives the Tories far more of such seats. Time to wake up and smell the coffee Labour.

Oh and are you wondering why you are not getting many if any leaflets through your door in this general election? It’s probably because our warped electoral system makes your constituency one where either Labour or the Tories are all but guaranteed a win so the political parties, who understand this, don’t bother to waste their time in such constituencies. Probably only a 3rd to a half of constituencies are where the real campaigns and fights are taking place.

Only The Lib Dems Can Save Britain – Huffington Post

Quote from the article ‘The Liberal party, in any form, has not formed a majority government since David Lloyd George led Britain to victory in the Great War. Today, Liberals matter more than at any time in the subsequent one hundred years. Really, the Lib Dems are the only party who can save Britain.’

Labour – Comradery NOT

A definition of Comradery is a feeling of trust, a bond created by a shared goal or experience — you don’t have to be best friends with everyone in the group to know you have their support. But there’s not much comradery around in the Labour Party these days!

With thanks to KP for spotting this story.

And this more Merseyside centric Labour story that the Liverpool Echo is running follows that one up nicely, or not so nicely, depending on your opinion:-

Trying to be reasonable about this, if Labour is to become a truly socialist party then surely all its right wing MP’s should be deselected, should they not?
