Southport – The bucket list

Sunset as seen from the end of Southport Pier

The Liverpool Echo has come up with a bucket list for Southport and it’s on the newspaper’s web site – see link below:-

Come to Sunny Southport and do the Echo bucket list!

Film of Vulcan with Red Arrows at Southport Airshow 2015

Thanks to Cllr. Mike Booth for pointing me in the direction of this excellent video – see link above – of one of that very last appearances of the Avro Vulcan at an airshow.

There are some great shots in this video of the Vulcan, the Red Arrows, Southport and the Sefton Coast and quite a bit of patriotic music.

Well worth watching, thanks Mike.

Southport Airshow 2014

Some nice shots via the two links above from the Liverpool Echo and the Flickr site of George C1.

I used to go to this show every year but have not been for 2 or 3 years. The weather was great for it yesterday and it looks set for another nice day today.

Here’s a link to a shot I took at the 2006 Southport Airshow:-

This show draws thousands of folk to the North West’s best seaside resort and the vast expanse of sand is perfect for such an event. Now if only the rail links east and north from/to Southport were better people would be able to get to the Town more easily! Oops, on soap box again!!

Southport Air Show

As spring returns and we start to think of outdoor activities how about this shot taken at Southport Airshow in 2006 showing the Utterly Buttery Team in action with their wing walkers. Admittedly, you can only barely make out the wing walkers in this shot.
