Lest we forget – 1914 – 18 War

???????????????????????????????

As 2014 draws to a close this may well be my last posting about war memorials 100 years since the start of World War One.

This is a shot of the truly magnificent war memorial at Port Sunlight Village on the Wirral which is close to the Lady level art Gallery.

I say my last posting on this theme; that is unless anyone sends me another photo of a war memorial…………………

Maghull’s almost hidden war memorial

As part of my theme for 2014 here is a shot close to home of the lych gate of St. Andrews Church Maghull which is in fact a war memorial in itself:-

Maghull – A First World War memorial with a difference

I often sing the praises of the Maghull in Bloom volunteers but stay with me as this is a different angle.

You see with 2014 being the 100th anniversary of the start of WW1 the volunteers ran a competition amongst local schools and young people to design new WW1 memorial posters to go on the planters in Maghull’s Central Square Shopping Centre.

There are quite a few to see but here are a couple that I took photo’s of recently and they fit nicely with the theme of this blog site in 2014. Well done to all the youngsters who took part:-
