Hard to believe in these times of austerity but Labour, with the support of the Tories and Plaid Cymru vote themselves a nice little earner in the Welsh Assembly. The Lib Dem members of the Assembly voted against the rise.
Invisible Green – Vale of Rheidol Railway/Cambrian Railway & Mark Williams MP
Reading the latest edition of Narrow Gauge World magazine and seeing the front page photo of Engine No.9 Prince of Wales made me realise that I had a photo of Vale of Rheidol Railway No.8 which appears to be in the same ‘Invisible Green’ livery. see below:-
I took this photo on a visit to the line around 1992 and have scanned this photo from the original print.
The livery is called invisible green because it is so near to black that a casual glance would lead you to think the loco was in fact painted black. The colour has been used on No.9 as part of the Vale of Rheidol’s celebrations of 150 years since the incorporation of the Cambrian Railway.
Narrow Gauge World goes on to say that the No.9 was officially relaunched into traffic on 29th may by Welsh Lib Dem MP Ceredigion Mark Williams.
The photo of No.8 is amongst my Flickr shots at:-
